Il Monumento ai Caduti della Prima Guerra Mondiale, noto anche come Monumento ai Caduti di Jatrinoli, si trova in Piazza della Libertà, davanti al palazzo municipale.
Realizzato dallo scultore Fortunato Longo e inaugurato il 28 ottobre del 1928, il monumento si compone di una statua in bronzo di un fante in posizione di riposo, con la mano destra che regge un fucile e con quella sinistra appoggiata al fianco, posta su un’alta base quadrangolare.
La statua della grandezza quasi naturale è poggiata su una base a forma di ara rivestita di marmo bianco con alle spalle un grande pilastro decorato con serti di alloro.
Sui lati sono incisi i nomi di cinquantaquattro caduti della Prima Guerra Mondiale, mentre sulla parte frontale si legge la scritta “RESURGO”.
Tutto l’insieme è recintato da una balaustra in ferro che anticamente era artisticamente lavorata.
L’opera rappresenta un forte simbolo della memoria e del sacrificio dei soldati locali, ricordando il contributo della comunità di Jatrinoli alla Grande Guerra.

War Memorial of Jatrinoli
The War Memorial commemorating the fallen of the First World War, also known as the Monument to the Fallen of Jatrinoli, is located in Piazza della Libertà, in front of the Town Hall.
It was created by sculptor Fortunato Longo and inaugurated on October 28, 1928.
The monument consists of a bronze statue of an infantryman in a resting pose, his right hand holding a rifle and his left hand placed on his hip, set upon a tall quadrangular base.
The nearly life-sized statue rests on an altar-shaped pedestal clad in white marble, behind which rises a large pillar decorated with laurel wreaths.
On its sides are engraved the names of fifty-four soldiers who died in the First World War, while the word “RESURGO” (“I will again”) is inscribed on the front.
The entire structure was originally enclosed by an artistically wrought-iron balustrade.
The monument stands as a powerful symbol of memory and sacrifice, honoring the contribution of the Jatrinoli community to the Great War.
